Sausages have once again surpassed conventional lamb, beef and pork flavours to
win the biggest retail category in The Great New Zealand Sausage Competition.
Winning the largest commercial
category two years in a row is a great achievement and signals the rise of
chicken as the favoured, tasty choice over the more standard sausage meat
options among food industry experts.
The Precooked/Barbeque award in
particular is a triumph for Tegel as chicken sausages only account for a small
proportion of the pre-cooked Barbeque market.
And Tegel Traditional Fresh
Chicken Sausages also won gold for being best in the flavoured category.
