At Tegel, we're feeding families well every day - and it all starts with the care, precision, and hard work of our people. As New Zealand's market-leading poultry producer, our iconic brand has been trusted by generations. We believe that when our people thrive, so does our business.
Right now, we're looking for a skilled and hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our Henderson site. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly, supporting the high standards that make Tegel a household name.
The opportunity:
Reporting to the Auckland Engineering Manager, this day shift role works 2am - 2pm on a rotating roster, which includes weekend work every second week. You will be working 7 days out of 14 across the 2-week roster. That means plenty of days off to balance work with your life outside of work.
You'll be part of a highly capable team that takes pride in keeping our fast-moving production environment in top shape. If you're innovative, solutions-focused, and ready for a new challenge, we'd love to welcome you to our team.
A day in the life:
- Responding to equipment breakdowns or faults, providing first-line diagnostics and repairs to ensure maximum uptime for the plant.
- Carry out preventative maintenance inspections, adjustments or lubrication so that potential mechanical/electrical problems are identified early, and remedial action is taken to prevent unnecessary downtime from occurring.
- Plant scheduled activities are completed when due, schedules are updated to meet plant changing needs, and plant maintenance documentation is completed & updated via CMMS.
- Perform failure analysis for downtime equipment that meets agreed trigger points.
- Inspect machine performance against historical & manufacturer's specifications, liaise with production, diagnose problems & potential for improvement, recommend and implement actions.
What you'll bring:
- A relevant Trade Qualification with solid hands-on skills in welding or machining.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
- A flexible, can-do attitude toward work hours and tasks (including weekends).
- Great interpersonal skills - you work well with others at all levels.
- FMCG or food manufacturing experience would be a plus!
