About the role

We’re looking for a proactive, people‑focused People & Culture Advisor to join our New Plymouth team. Reporting to the Regional P&C Manager, you’ll be a trusted partner to leaders and employees, driving positive culture, supporting day‑to‑day people matters, and helping us build a workplace where everyone can thrive.

This role is perfect for someone with a growth mindset, strong initiative, and some ER experience who’s ready to take ownership and operate confidently and independently.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Live our Tegel Values – One Team One Direction, Hungry for Better, Do What’s Right, We Care.
  • Advise and support managers and employees across P&C processes, performance, ER matters, and general coordination.
  • Manage disciplinary and performance processes end‑to‑end, escalating complex issues to the wider P&C team.
  • Coach leaders and employees to build capability and support a safe, positive, high‑performing workplace.
  • Support P&C initiatives that lift engagement and organisational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with H&S, Talent Acquisition, and Learning & Capability on people‑related matters.
  • Prepare employment documentation including agreements, variations, and lifecycle paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with NZ employment legislation.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in a People & Culture or HR generalist role.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous).
  • Strong generalist HR knowledge and confidence providing sound advice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Strong judgement, discretion, and problem‑solving ability.
  • Solid understanding of NZ employment law.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment with strong admin and systems capability.
  • A team‑focused, pragmatic approach and a genuine desire to grow and develop.
