About the Role
Due to an internal movement, we're looking for a Livestock Advisor to join our team in the New Plymouth region.
This is a highly autonomous and influential role where you'll work closely with our farming network to ensure optimal bird health, welfare, performance, and biosecurity standards. You'll play a key role in delivering broiler supply targets that support Tegel's processing operations while driving continuous improvement across farms under your portfolio.
As a trusted technical advisor, you'll partner with farm contractors and internal stakeholders, provide practical solutions, monitor performance, and help maintain the highest standards of animal welfare, quality, and operational excellence.
A company vehicle is provided as part of the role.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days are the same. In this role, you'll:
- Partner with growers to improve flock performance, bird health, welfare, and production outcomes.
- Monitor and support compliance with animal welfare, biosecurity, quality, environmental, and health & safety standards.
- Build strong relationships across Breeders, Hatchery, Feed Mill, Processing, and Farming teams to identify opportunities and solve challenges.
- Lead and contribute to projects that enhance farm performance, efficiency, and operational outcomes.
- Support contractor performance management and implement corrective actions where required.
- Provide relief farm management support when needed, including oversight of daily operations and alarm system coverage.
As farming operations run around the clock, flexibility is required to meet operational demands when necessary.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who enjoys working closely with farmers, building relationships, and delivering practical solutions that make a real difference.
You'll bring:
- At least 2 years' experience in poultry production, farm advisory, farm servicing, or farm management.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related discipline.
- Sound understanding of animal welfare, biosecurity, and farming best practices.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for continuous improvement and animal welfare.
